Impasto

Image result for about impasto
Impasto came into its own in the 17th century, when such Baroque painters as Rembrandt, Frans Hals, and Diego Velázquez used skillfully and minutely worked impastos to depict lined and wrinkled skin or the sparkle of elaborately crafted armour, jewelry, and rich fabrics. Many artists were using the impasto technique. Some of the most famous were: Vincent van Gogh, Jackson Pollock, and Willem de Kooning. Our artists were inspired to create such incredible paintings for you. Please check out some photos of our abstract paintings.Extreme thickness of paint is one of the defining traits of the German painter Frank Auerbach. His images are sometimes so heavy from the layers of color applied using impasto, that they are very difficult to hang on the walls.
